To provide students with the advanced knowledge of skincare procedures to meet National and International standard requirements in becoming a certified and licensed Clinical Aesthetician. The program prerequisite is a certificate in general beauty therapy or skincare and aesthetics.

5 understanding and treatment of hyperpigmentation (melanocytes and melanogenesis)
6 Conducting a comprehensive skin analysis
CLINICAL SKINCARE PROCEDURES
1. MICROCURRENT
Focus on biological and environmental causes of aging. Aging process of skin and muscle and how to slow down the hands of time using microcurrent.
2. TREATMENT WITH CHEMICAL PEELS
Covers Glycolic, Lactic Acid , Salicylic Acid and Mandelic Acid. We discuss other AHAs as well. We will focus on how these different peels affect the skin physiologically and who is a candidate for each. Focus on the chemistry of the peels and the correct and safe application of each as well as contraindications and precautions.
3. HOW TO USE PHOTOTHERAPY (Light Emitting Diodes)
Knowledge of the different colors of light and their nanometers (wavelength).
How the different nanometers effect and benefit the skin and how they can be used in different skin treatments eg. Acne, Hyperpigmentation, Anti Aging
4. MICRODERMABRASION
This modality is still one of the most commonly practiced modality in a skin care clinic. We will focus on the benefits and correct usage of the machine and how it can be coupled with other modalities for the greatest effect. Comparison of mechanical vs chemical exfoliation and when they can be used together.
5. WART REMOVAL ( Skin Tags)
Skin Tags are made up of loose fibrous tissue and hang from the surface of the skin. They vary in size from a grain of rice to a pea. Removal using electro- cauterization.
Class Days: Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Course Hours: Course duration is 2 weeks.

The units outlined in this course are NCTVET curriculum based units. Upon completion of this course, The Face Place Institute certificate is awarded. The Face Place certification are clustered units from the NVQJ qualification plan.
