Course Overview

 

To provide candidates the required knowledge and practicum qualification to be able to confidently and competently work as skin care therapists offering facial treatments including cleansing technique, skin analysis, deep cleansing with brush machine, steamer and exfoliation products, facial massage, mask therapy and day care application.

Course Units

 

  • NATURAL SCIENCES – CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS – Basic chemistry, concepts of acids, bases and pH scale.
  • ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY – Basic cell structure, 4 major tissue types, face muscular system, basic circulatory system, lymphatic and immune system, basic endocrine system, basic nervous system.
  • SKIN/DERMATOLOGY – Skin layers, structure and functions, skin appendages, glands, pH scale.
  • HYGIENE AND FIRST AID – Public and personal hygiene, microbiology, bacteriology, methods of sanitisation and sterilisation, infection/cross infection, immunity.
  • AESTHETIC TREATMENTS – Skin care routine, cleansing, consultation, facial massage, mask therapy and day care. Facial machines including vapourizer/steam machine.
  • COSMETIC PRODUCTS – COSMETIC SCIENCE (basic)
  • COSMETIC SURGERY (basic general knowledge)
  • NUTRITION – DIET
  • PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
  • OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • COMMERCIAL STUDIES – BUSINESS STUDIES – RETAIL
  • CASE HISTORIES

Course Details

 

Class Days: Mondays to Wednesdays from 10:00am to 5:00pm

Course Hours: Course duration is 285 hours covered in 16 weeks.

Course Cost: Course cost is $350,000 JMD
